About Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)

To ensure program quality, each partnership participating in the U.S. Department of Education EQUIP program is being reviewed and monitored by an independent, third-party quality assurance entity (QAE). The QAE for StraighterLine and Brookhaven College is the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

CHEA works with the presidents and chief academic officers of colleges and universities, accreditors, policymakers and higher education leaders around the world, providing authoritative information and leadership on issues related to accreditation, quality assurance, and the federal government accreditation relationship.

The CHEA Quality Platform is an outcomes-based review of the quality of innovative providers, focused on what students learn as central to judging quality. Use of its Quality Platform will measure critical student outcomes, including graduation rates, repayment ability and students’ cost-per-credit.

As an expert quality assurance entity, CHEA’s Quality Platform will evaluate the StraighterLine-Brookhaven program for input quality and outcome performance, including student learning outcomes and cost effectiveness.
